Depending on what you’re looking for, shopping can either be lots of fun or just a downright hassle. While there are the select few of us who get pleasure out of grocery shopping, a lot of us are far too busy to enjoy shopping, but rather to it out of necessity, and try to get in and out of the store as fast as humanly possible. The only thing worse than running errands is having to go back to the store to return something. You have to wait in that long tedious customer service line, explain the reason for returning your goods, and search through your purse and the trash for the receipt.
If you purchased an item online that you need to return, the hassle is even bigger as you try to figure out exactly where to go, how to give the item back, and waiting for what feels like forever to get your money back.
Thankfully, Walmart is doing its part to make this shopping annoyance a little less of a hassle. Walmart Mobile Express Returns is launching next month, and the service will help customers return items they bought online quickly and easily. In-store items will be added to the system for returns next year.
“We know that returning an item and waiting for a refund, especially for a product purchased online, isn’t always seamless, so we’ve completely transformed the process for our customers — whether they are shopping in stores or at Walmart.com,” said Daniel Eckert, senior vice president of Walmart services and digital acceleration.
So, how exactly does Walmart Mobile Express Returns work? If you need to return an item that you purchased from Walmart, you simply use the app to find the item that you’re looking to return. You’ll then head to the store and go to the mobile express lane in the customer service area. Scan the QR code displayed on the card reader using the app, then give the item you wish to return to the Walmart associate. You’ll receive your refund the very next day.
That’s all there is to it! In about 30 seconds, you can easily return your unwanted item and get on with your day.
Beginning in December, Walmart will even allow select items to be returned through the app, allowing you to get your money back without even having to go to the store. “Select household items such as shampoo and color cosmetics” will be the first ones on the list, which basically means that the superstore will just take a loss on products that you’ve already opened and want to return. How easy is that?
According to studies, 90% of Walmart shoppers live within 10 miles of one of the store locations, so this is just one smart way that Walmart can get its customers in the building, but without all the stress and struggle. Their mobile express lane currently offers pickups on prescriptions as well as quick money orders, so they already know how well it works.
Thanks to Walmart’s mobile express lane, you can shop and return without worry. Will you be using this smart service when it arrives next month?
