These days, there are so many clever and creative ways to make money! It’s easier than ever to find an unconventional job that works for your lifestyle without having to worry too much about your budget.

Whether you want to work from home, in an office, or outside, there’s sure to be a job out there that you’ll enjoy.

A startup company known as Nomad Technologies has come up with a pretty clever way to market themselves, so if you want to make easy money, you might want to consider working for this unique business.

What Nomad Technologies does is pay people to walk around with tablets attached to their backpacks which display different brands.

They encourage their employees to walk around densely populated areas, so lots of people are able to see the advertising. We’re sure you’ve seen cars with brands on them, or maybe shirts or signs, and this is a modern spin on that idea!

Similar to being a walking billboard or a sign spinner, Nomad Technologies employees capture the attention of the public in a new way.

Nomad Technologies began at Washington State University, and has plans to branch out to over 100 different campuses.

What’s great about working for Nomad is the flexibility of the schedule. Employees (aptly named “Nomads”) can choose when they want to work, and typically get paid between $10 and $20 an hour.

“They’re incentivized to walk during busy times and in busy areas,” Founder and CEO of Nomad, Jonah Friedl said. “Nomads get bonuses based on the more people they get in front of.”

Currently, Friedl says that their company has a network of more than 2,000, and they’re looking to bring on more enthusiastic Nomads. To become part the of the Nomad team, you should be comfortable talking to people, and knowledgeable about whatever brand you’re promoting.

“If it’s a campaign with Timberland — who’s a customer of ours at Stanford — we make sure those students are hiking enthusiasts, outdoor enthusiasts [and] already a fan of the brand so they’re extremely excited to be brought in to be representing it,” said Friedl. “Going into it, they’re well versed to speak on behalf of the quality of the product.”
When you fill out your application, you’ll be able to check off your likes and interests, allowing Nomad to pair you with the perfect brand. After Nomad Technologies reviews you’re initial application, you’ll go through a phone and Skype interview.

Depending on where you live, the need for Nomads can be significantly higher. Busy cities like San Francisco, San Diego, Los Angeles, and Seattle do quite well.

“Those are really popular markets where we get a ton of requests and people stay pretty busy,” said Jonah.

If you’re chosen to be a Nomad, you’ll work one campus at a time, and you can even lease a tablet from the company if you don’t already have one.
