For many Americans – especially recent college graduates who are, for the first times in their lives, finding full-time jobs and beginning to seriously consider their bank accounts and savings – the financial struggles are incredibly real.

This concern is what drives many millennials to return home to live with their parents; it’s an easy way to pay off student debts and begin saving money without the burden or concern of having to pay rent.

Although about a third of the American population between 18 and 34 live with their parents to evade financial struggles as best as possible, just as many people can’t escape their bleak realities by returning home.

A recent study conducted by the FINRA Investor Education Foundation reveals that 52% of American people are having trouble making ends meet.

In the past seven years, the American economic situation has improved such that the number of Americans who are satisfied with their financial situations has doubled – but these people constitute less than a third of the entire American population.

And of the 69% of the population who are still unsatisfied with their financial situations, 20% spends more than they earn. They don’t break even.

The financial reality for many people may still look quite bleak, but financial advisors do have advice for those hoping to improve their situations in small, but surefire ways. Here are six pieces of advice you can begin trying for yourself:
