The free at-home COVID testing program is running again as officials prepare for Fall/Winter season. The federal government is restarting its free at-home COVID tests program. Free Covid tests are going to be offered to all U.S. households delivered for free to your house. Every home in the U.S. will be eligible to order 4 free at-home tests. The tests will be able to detect infection from currently circulating variants. Each order includes 4 individual rapid antigen COVID-19 tests (COVIDTests.gov has more details about at-home tests, including extended shelf life and updated expiration dates). Orders will ship free, starting September 30, 2024.

In addition to tests, O’Connell, assistant secretary for preparedness and response at the Department of Health and Human Services, said Paxlovid, an antiviral drug used to treat COVID-19 infections for those at risk of hospitalization, will be available for free for individuals on Medicare and Medicaid as well as for those who are uninsured.
