Lowe’s offers free monthly workshops for kids where they get to build fun & seasonal crafts and keep them for free. In a world filled with screens and digital distractions, there’s something refreshingly tangible and enriching about hands-on experiences for children! My family has such fun memories of building various projects at Lowe’s workshops. They’re so great, I can’t believe they’re free to be honest. The projects are seasonal and great quality. All the materials needed are provided.
The workshops provide a space where kids can unleash their creativity and learn valuable skills through hands-on projects. From building birdhouses and flower planters to crafting seasonal decorations, these workshops cover a wide range of DIY activities.
You need to register your kid(s) for each workshop. Registration takes place online and are available on a first-come first-serve basis. Registration for a workshop typically opens 30 days prior to the workshop’s date.
Not only does Lowe’s offer free crafts for kids, but if you child completes twelve (12) Workshops by December 31, 2024, he/she will be eligible for recognition as a Sr. Builder and will be eligible to receive a free Kobalt® Kids’ Tool Bag!

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT LOWE’S KIDS WORKSHOPS
Lowe’s Free Kid Workshops are a hidden gem in the world of child enrichment. These workshops are designed to be both educational and fun for children. Lowe’s makes these workshops a delightful blend of craftsmanship and community engagement.
While the specific age requirements may vary slightly by location, these workshops are typically designed for children aged 4 to 12, ensuring that a broad age range of kids can engage in the activities.
There are at least fifty (50) spots available for each Workshop at each Participating Store. To register for a Workshop, you first must log on to their Lowes.com account and select the relevant Workshop at your nearby participating store. Registrants must fill in the online workshop registration form and select the number of Kids participating in the Workshop in advance. Workshop registration is limited to four (4) Kids per Registrant. Then bring your kid(s) into Lowe’s on the date of the workshop.
Lowe’s Workshops are typically held the second Saturday of each month from 10:00am – 12:00pm. If you are unable to attend during your selected time slot, your kit may be given away to Walk-Ins starting at 12:00pm, the day of the workshop. Participating Stores may permit walk-in participation for Workshops at their discretion.
It is recommended that you arrive 5-minutes before the start of the Workshop to complete check-in. Each store will designate a DIY-U Captain to run the program and workshop. Captains will take attendance and then lead Registrants and Kids through the Workshop project. Each registrant will receive one (1) kids’ apron and one (1) set of safety goggles annually per Kid, while supplies last. After completing the Workshop, each kid will receive one apron badge.
TIPS FOR A GREAT WORKSHOP EXPERIENCE
– Arrive Early: Getting to the workshop a bit early can help you secure a spot for your child and ensure they have ample time to complete their project.
– Dress for Mess: Be ready for some hands-on creativity. Dress your child in clothes you don’t mind getting a little dirty, as some projects can be a tad messy.
– Bring Your Enthusiasm: Children thrive on encouragement. Show enthusiasm for their projects and be ready to engage with them during the workshop.
– Stay Hydrated and Snack-Ready: Have a bottle of water and some snacks on hand, as the workshops can be both exciting and energy-consuming for little ones.
– Capture the Moments: Don’t forget your camera or smartphone. Document your child’s journey and their finished project for cherished memories.
– Follow Safety Guidelines: Listen to and follow any safety guidelines provided during the workshop to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all.

Lowe’s is doing a Winterfest Holiday Event and they will be offering free DIY Holiday House Kits! Registration will open on December 6th to reserve your kit to pick up in-store between December 9th- 13th. You can choose from four different Holiday Graham Cracker House kits: a city townhouse, cool cabana, traditional house or mid-century modern masterpiece to reflect own personal style preference. These kits can be picked up at the customer service desk, and there is a limited quantity available so register as soon as registration opens to make sure you get a kit.
These workshops are more than just an opportunity for kids to get their hands dirty; they are a gateway to a world of creativity, problem-solving, and community engagement. And they’re free!
If you enjoy Lowe’s workshops, you might want to know that Lowe’s also offers birthday parties for kids! Build a Birthday packages provide all the essentials of an awesome party, including safety goggles, aprons, and party construction hats, allowing parents to relax, knowing all the details are covered. Each two-hour Lowe’s Build a Birthday experience will be led by a Lowe’s Red Vest Party Captain, and kids will get practical- and hands-on knowledge in a fun, in-store environment.
Offered for kids age 5+, party packages will be available on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays in select stores. Packages include DIY project kits for 12 kids, with the option to have up to 20 kids participate.
