The 3 things that can help you make your budget go much further: coupons, cash back and freebies!
1- Coupons: You don’t have to be an extreme couponer to benefit from coupons.You can save a LOT of money using coupons. So much that you don’t need to work as many hours. And the good news is you don’t have to have newspaper coupons to start saving with coupons; There are a ton of digital coupons available. You can find some here in our coupons section. We also like these sites to search for specific coupons: Lozo and Southern Savers. And if you can’t find coupons for the products you purchase there, email the company! You wouldn’t believe how many companies show their appreciation to loyal customers with coupons or even free swag. Let them know how much you enjoy their products and how much you would appreciate some coupons for some of their products as a loyal customer. Tip: don’t try chasing deals. Focus on what products you need and the stores you regularly shop at. If you start shopping all over the place to get one deal somewhere, another one somewhere else, it can become time-consuming and also cost you gas. If you do want to start using newspaper coupons, know that there are some options to get free newspaper coupon inserts.
2- Cash back sites/apps: We particularly like Rakuten for online shopping and ibotta for in-store shopping. Read our review here. You shop just like you normally would, but now you’re getting some cash back on what you spend. Winning!
3- Freebies: Companies want to get the word out about their products and what better way to let people know about your products than to send them some free samples to try for free. Sometimes it’s little packets, sometimes it’s a full size product. And even if it’s just little packets, it’s really nice to be able to test a new product: you might find your new favorite moisturizer that you would not have been able to try if you had to purchase it. To receive the most and the best freebies, we recommend getting text alerts. Even when thousands of free samples are available, they can all go very fast. So you want to make sure you’re amongst the first ones to hear about them and text alerts on your phone are the best way to get notified. Read more tips here to get the best and the most freebies. There are also great review and social media sampling programs that will mail you boxes of free products, often full size. Pretty soon you’ll have a big stock pile of freebies and you won’t have to buy a lot of products you currently do.
Individually, each saving that you get might not seem like a lot, $1 there, $5 there, $10 there etc… but it’s amazing how fast it adds up and how much money you save. Have you ever been to Target and bought just a couple small things but when the cashier tells you your total, you’re like “how does it get to be so much? I only bought a few cheap things!”.
