Tips for a fun and frugal 4th of July

What are the most important aspects of your Independence Day? Here at Freeflys, we would say the four F’s: family, food, fun, and frugality! With the economy still at a low point and the Fourth of July right around the corner, it’s time to start looking for ways to save money AND have fun during your red, white, and blue celebration. Check out the Freeflys coupon page for some great deals! Below you will find a list of some excellent ideas to help facilitate an enjoyable and inexpensive Fourth of July:

FOOD

The supermarkets are usually jam packed on this momentous holiday – jam packed full of super savings! Freeflys has several great coupons to use at your local grocery store. Are you planning on grilling? Print out a coupon for $1.00 off of two packages of Oscar Mayer hot dogs! If you like steak, you’re in for a special treat: FreeFlys has a coupon for $20.00 off $100.00 worth of 100% Guarantee Omaha Steaks. Butter up your corn-on-the-cob with some delectable Challenge Butter, now $0.55 off when you print the coupon off of Freeflys.  Create a delicious salad for your family or guests to go on the side of your meal. You can receive $0.75 off of Newman’s Own salad dressing, $1.00 off of Fresh Gourmet Crunch Toppings, and $1.00 off Fresh Gourmet Fruit and Nut Toppings! Now, this is shaping up to be a delectable AND discounted meal!

Another way that you can save big on food on Independence Day is by organizing a potluck. They are fun for the whole party, inexpensive, and a lot less work for you! Assign someone to bring the napkins – you know you always need a ton of those! Print the Chinet coupon from the FreeFlys coupons page and save $1.00 on two packages.

FUN

Entertaining the kids on the Fourth can be difficult, especially while you are busy prepping everything else for the day! An easy and inexpensive way to keep the children out of your hair is by setting up an Arts and Crafts table! Leave out things like paper (fun idea: have some cut into star shapes!), child-appropriate scissors, coloring crayons, glue, glitter, stickers, and Popsicle sticks. They will get creative! If your children prefer movies, print off the FreeFlys coupon for the Disney Movie Club – you’ll receive 4 DVDs for $1.00, plus free shipping!

FIREWORKS

After a long day of swimming, barbecuing, and cleaning up, what’s better than watching fireworks with the people you care for around you? Fireworks are an integral part of family fun on the Fourth of July. A great way to add to the fun is to bring a snack along with you! Care for something sweet? Try a free sample of a Haagen Dazs Midnight Dazzler ice cream to munch on while you watch the fireworks light up the night sky! To maximize fun and minimize expenses, here are a few explosively fun options to help you celebrate:

1. Watch fireworks for free at a local park, on your driveway, or in your backyard.
2. Pitch in a few bucks for fireworks with some neighbors for a night that everyone can enjoy!

Remember, having fun does not always have to mean you are emptying your pockets! From your friends here at Freeflys, have a very happy, and very safe Fourth of July!

I appreciate the way you shared some of the important aspects of enjoying the 4th Holiday (making wise spending choices, spending time with people you care about and practicing safety). You don’t want to remember the holiday for the wrong reasons. Best wishes to everyone who celebrates the holiday and the same to those who don’t.
