| It's hard sometimes, especially if you've let things go too long. Set small goals if you must. Start with a single cabinet or closet if tackling a room is overwhelming. If you can live without it, toss it. Sometimes all the things we think we need, junk up our houses so much that we were really better off before they became permanent fixtures on our tables and in the piles of stuff that keep growing. Once you have an area done, visit that spot at least twice a day and make sure it's still looking good. If not, it will only take a minute to fix it. Give other family members their own spots to organize. It feels too good to come home to a nice house. If our living room is straight I love walking in. I can relax. If it's looking dumpy, I just feel depressed because I feel like my surroundings. Thats why we love to get out into nature. All the junk is at home and the outdoors lets us get our head and hearts back in place. The more areas you get straightened out at home the better you'll feel. Keep everybody in check and make sure they do their part. We have a 15 minute deal every evening before bed to go through and do a quick pick up. It makes the next morning go better and if company comes by we aren't totally embarassed, because even if everything isn't done, it's at least acceptable. Good luck |
