Sorry, but I do not believe animals belong indoors. Even in homes where the owners are fastidiously clean, the minute I walk in I can smell the STANK of a dog or cat.

What really disgusts me are people who let animals sleep on their beds or worse...under the covers.

But the WORST offenders are people who let dogs lick their faces and mouths. It is a complete myth and lie that dog's mouths are cleaner than ours. Case in point: my 2 year old son was playing outside and had diahrrea. He didn't make it inside and pulled his pants off on the back porch, leaving a steaming pile sitting there. Our blue heeler (100% an outside dog) then eagerly licked it all up. I think of that whenever I see someone letting their pooch lick their mouth. You don't know what your dog has been snacking on.

1st use vinegar, let that dry completely then use something like Nture's Miracle or Simple Solution and let that dry completely hopefully the odor will be gone and your couch might only smell like a salad!

"KIDS N PETS" It's cheap and gets rid of everything from cat pee, dog poo, vomit, and kids marker messes!

"KIDS N PETS" The miracle smell and stain remover! You can purchase it at almost any store, for a lot less that most cleaners. I was able to kitten urine odor out of carpet, bedding, and furniture. For furniture I suggest using a spray bottle, let sit for 24 hours and then use hot water and clean rag. Scrub clean. For the carpets, I literally dumped an entire bottle on the affected area, the next day I added water to it and foamed it up. On day 3 I used the carpet cleaner....No one ever knew I'd had 6 kittens in the house! This also works very well for permanent marker on carpets, vomit, and when kids run thru the house with poo on their shoes!

Nature's Miracle is my suggestion. I originally purchased it at my vet's office, but now they have it at Wal Mart, too...works like a charm!!

Go to Gardens Alive.
There is a product called Earth's Answer Microbial Deodorizer - 9.95 for a 32 Fl.ozs bottle.Completely safe for pets and people. They say odors aren't just covered up; they are eliminated at the source - naturally. Everyone I have given it to try go on the web and buys it. If you live in near Niagara Falls, come get a sample. I have tried all of the above and more.

Febreze works, you just have to use it a few days

Try saturating the area with a mixture of 1 cup 3% peroxide (you can buy it in the first-aid section at WalMart), mixed with 1 teaspoon of baking soda and a drop of dish soap in a spray bottle. Shake it up and apply to pet stain until it's a puddle. It will foam right up. Keep spraying until the entire stain is covered. Leave it for 15 minutes or so and then soak it/blot it up. Peroxide is an enzyme, which is the main ingredient used to make Oxy-Clean, by the way.

I do this for every pet accident and it takes the smell/stain right out of everything from couches to carpets. I use my carpet cleaner to remove the solution but you can sop it up with towels and then just let it air dry.

A hand held black light, at night when it's totally dark, will show you where a cat has peed.

Does your dog pee on your couch when you're not there? I would seriously think about kennel/crate training it when you aren't home to make sure the behavior is stopped as soon as possible.

I use ODORBAN for most everything. Sold at Sam's and sometimes Walmart. Also great for those nasty dishcloths or clothes left too long in the washing machine.

Use Natures Miracle. Works everytime. You can find it in your local pet store. I have three cats and use it all the time. It doesn't stain and smells clean and fresh.

I purchased bath towels from jcpenney about 2 yrs. ago and no matter how hot the water is I wash them in there is a an odor that is released after the first use no matter who uses them. I have bleached the white/light ones and the odor is still there. Please help!

For odor control, if it is cat odor use a litter such as Arm & Hammer which has superb odor control. If your cat urinates in the house DO NOT use amonia to clean it up. The primary chemical in urine is amonia. If you use this to clean the cat will use the area many times over.I found the best thing for cleaninig upchucks and urine is Oxy Solution (PetSmart) it takes the smell and spots out immediately. If you want to keep your pet off the furniture put foil across the entire seat. Most animals, especially cats, do not like the sound of foil when they jump on it. Eventually, they will stay off the couch or whatever furniture you put it on. I am an animal behaviorist and specialize in care, maintenance and trining of pet cats.

When it comes to trying to sell a house, it doesn't matter what you think your house smells like. Only what the potentual buyer thinks. So get intouch with a company that specializes in odor control. Example: fire odor. There are many companies that specialize in disastor restoration. So how do they get the odor out "OZONE" They can set up an ozone machine in an empty house. There will be no odor when they finish. No animal odor, no pee odor, no personal odor. I'm certified in odor control thru IICRC. I worked for Service Master for 5 years, as well as ServPro. And ozoned many, many, homes for pet odor. Hope this helps.

awesome does work wonders and animals can be kept inside they just need trained properly. or taken to the vet to make sure they don't have a bladder infection that makes them not be able to hold it. Good luck buy a cage until it learns not to pee inside!

animals do not belong where people live. My dogs in the backyard, with their houses, blankets, toys, food, water. If you allow animals to live inside of your house, be prepared to accept them the way they are.

nature's miracle is wonderful- used it on a mattress when one of my cats got locked in a bedroom...soak it, let it try, and soak it again...NEVER use heat (such as a steam cleaner) on animal "spots"- the heat cooks the smell in! (yeah, I learned that one too late).

Good luck!

ditto scott00unfortunately, if your dog peed on a cushion--the smell is now inside of the stuffing or whatever your couch is made of.
just like when a cat pees on the carpet-the only true way to get the smell is out to rip out the carpet and padding and replace it.
You can try calling a local dry cleaners and see if they can recommend anything to get the smell out.
I tried everything I could to get cat pee out of our carpet a few years ago, we had to tear out the whole carpet.
(the cat is an outdoor cat now!)

Lemon Juice

Use 1/4 cup lemon juice in the rooms that smell. Put the juice in a cup an place it in the rooms and just wait. Days will go by and the lemon juice will absorb the smell. After a week dump the lemon juice down the drain to kept it smelling good also, and start with a fresh cup in all the rooms again. you will notice the change.

FEBREEZE not the spray, the one for the laundry, you put in the wash. Try putting that on it. let it sit , then if you have a carpet machine with suction. to get the liquids out.
