| are prom dresses really necessary? |

| what's your view? i think that they are. i encouraged my girlfriend to get one and go to the prom. |

| They are "necessary," but what is not necessary is to pay an outrageous amount of money for a dress you will wear one time. SHop smart - go to a Consignment Store in an upscale community - you will find designer gowns for a fraction of their retail price. It is worth the effort! |

| If you are into that and it is your style than get a prom dress, don't spend a fortune on it. I saved for months because I wanted the most incredible gown I could find (my parents had very little money and I think I wanted to feel like a princess for once) and my boyfriend of two years stood me up. I was horrified and never forgave him. I still have the gown and my daughter is growing up to be built just like me, the gown I bought is very classy and is back in style after twenty years and she wants it, lol. My advise... let your girlfriend go to the prom comfortable and as herself. Jennifer Aniston looked drop dead gorgeous in that tight tank top and long blank skirt. Don't pressure her to be someone she isn't, she won't enjoy the evening...it really is about you two and the company you keep, no one will remember what she wore ten years from now. |
